
When & Where
The home ground for Lismore Thistles Soccer Club is located at 191 Military Road, East Lismore.
Our facilities include two full-size playing fields, as well as a half-size pitch for training and MiniRoos games. Thistles Park, as it is colloquially known, also has amenities including a fully stocked canteen, a licensed bar and toilet facilities. The home and visiting team change rooms also include individual shower cubicles.

MiniRoos fixtures (ages 6 -11) are typically played on Saturday mornings.

Junior Mixed Competition fixtures (ages 12 - 16) are generally played on Saturday mornings, although some fixtures may be scheduled Friday night, Sunday morning (occasionally midweek night fixtures may be required)

Junior Girls Competition fixtures (ages 12 - 16) are generally played on Sunday mornings or Friday nights (occasionally midweek night fixtures may be required).

Senior Men typically play on a Saturday afternoon, however fixtures may also be scheduled on a Friday night or Sunday afternoon (occasionally midweek night fixtures may be required)

Senior Women typically play on a Sunday afternoon of Friday night (occasionally midweek night fixtures may be required).
Senior teams (men and women) train on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6pm.
Junior training will depend on coach and player availability.

Our Teams

Age 5-7 – Miniroos:
Miniroos play 4 v 4 using a size 3 ball on a small field for 2 x 20 min halves. There is no goalkeeper. For more information see the National Playing Formats & Rules.

Age 12 – Grade 12:
Grade 12’s play 11 v 11 including a goalkeeper using a size 4 ball on a full-sized field for 2 x 25 min halves. This is a competitive age group with a final series played based on points at the end of the season.

Age 15-16 – Grade 16:
Grade 16’s play 11 v 11 including a goalkeeper using a size 5 ball on a full-sized field for 2 x 35 min halves. This is a competitive age group with a final series played based on points at the end of the season.

Age 8-9 – MiniRoos:
Grade 8 play 7 v 7 including a goalkeeper using a size 3 ball on a ¼ sized field for 2 x 20min halves. For more information click see the National Playing Formats & Rules.

Age 13 – Grade 13:
grade 13’s play 11 v 11 including a goalkeeper using a size 4 ball on a full sized field for 2 x 30 min halves. This is a competitive age group with a final series played based on points at the end of the season.

Senior Men:
All age divisions play 11 v 11 including a goalkeeper using a size 5 ball on a full-sized field for 2 x 45 min halves. Our teams are graded based on ability. We welcome all players of all abilities.

When do training and games start?MiniRoos: Miniroos (ages 6-11) games commence 3rd May 2025. Your team training date will be determined at Miniroos Muster Day on Saturday 15th March and will be decided between the coach and the parents. Junior Competitions and Senior Leagues: Junior Competitions (ages 12-16) and Senior Leagues are anticipated to commence from the weekend of 28/29/30 March 2025.

How do I register to become a member of Lismore Thistles Soccer Club?To register as a member of Lismore Thistles Soccer Club, please visit https://www.playfootball.com.au/ and register online. If you haven’t already done so, you will need to create a Football Account and link family members to your account at https://account.footballnetwork.com.au/register. Please note that there are cut-off dates and limited places on some teams, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible to secure your spot. I can help in the Canteen - who do I contact?Each team will be placed on Canteen Roster at some point throughout this season. All details will be provided closer to season commencing. For further information regarding canteen please contact Lisa Munn on 0448 580 188. Our club is 100% run by volunteers, and if you would like to help in any way, please speak to one of our Committee Members. We are always happy to have any extra help.

What are the payment options available for registration with Lismore Thistles Soccer Club?Online credit card payment is part of the registration process, providing a quick and secure way to complete your registration. Participants will have two payment options when they reach the payment stage of registration in PlayFootball. Please note that it is a requirement that fees are paid online. Payment of Full Fee Amount: this includes components relevant to Football Australia, Northern NSW Football, Football Far North Coast and the club. Regulation Fees Only - Scheduled Payment: this allows the participant to pay the Football Australia, Northern NSW Football, Football Far North Coast and 25% of the club fee at time of registration. The remaining 75% of the club fee must be paid online in future instalments. How do I apply for, and use, my Active Kids Voucher?Claim your Active Kids Voucher before registering – add the voucher number during the registration process APPLY here: https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/active-and-creative-kids-voucher The discount will be taken off your fees automatically. Contact us if you have any issues during the process.

How do I purchase uniforms?Miniroos (ages 6-11) and Junior competition (ages 12-16) players will wear playing shirts from the club kit provided. Each player will need to purchase playing shorts from the club via our online store: https://www.cs91.com.au/product-category/lismore-thistles-soccer-club/ In 2025, playing socks will be provided free to junior competition players, however additional pairs of socks can be purchased from our online store: https://www.cs91.com.au/product-category/lismore-thistles-soccer-club/ Senior players will have a playing shirt and playing shorts provided by the club. All players are required to wear shin pads and soccer boots that can be purchased from most sports stores. Supporter shirts, jackets & jumpers can be purchased from the clubhouse. Junior kits are available for collection by coaches on Junior Muster Day at the clubhouse. Senior kits will be distributed to coaches.

What age Group and Team is suitable?All players are required to register in the age which reflects the age you are turning that year. Players will be placed in teams based on their year of birth unless younger players are required to fill places in older teams. The following birth years for age group apply: ● U6: Born 2019 or 2020 (players born in 2019 who played last year remain in U6 age group) ● U7: Born 2018 ● U8: Born 2017 ● U9: Born 2016 ● U10: Born 2015 ● U11: Born 2014 ● U12: Born 2013 ● U13: Born 2012 ● U14: Born 2011 ● U15: Born 2010 ● U16: Born 2009 ● Senior: Born 2008 or before MINIROOS players - if you would like your child to play with friends please let us know at registration so we can try our best to place them in the same team. We can’t guarantee this, but will do our best! JUNIOR COMPETITIVE TEAM ALLOCATIONS (U12-U16) Junior players (girls and boys) may need to be graded depending on numbers of registrations. Trial dates will be set, and you will be notified if you need to attend grading sessions. From these trials, players will be placed in a team. If a player has failed to register or attend at least 2 of the 3 trials, they will be placed automatically in the lowest graded team or put on a waiting list until there are enough numbers to form an additional team.

When are club meetings?Meetings are held the second Monday of the month at 6.30pm at the clubhouse during the year. All are welcome to attend.

When do fees need to be paid?For the 2025 season, players are are required to pay the Football Australia, Northern NSW Football, Football Far North Coast and 25% of the club fee at the point of registration. This is mandatory as part of the registration. The remaining component of fees must be paid before the player takes the field in 2025. The club is invoiced a team nomination levy by Football Far North Coast following the submission of team nominations in March.
